CASE STUDY: How We Helped Create An Annual Kik Conference With Lasting Impact

In 2024, the German discount chain KiK celebrated 30 years on the market. The significant milestone was a great opportunity not only to reflect but also to strengthen relationships with employees. To mark the occasion, Kik decided to organise a management conference with Czech and Slovak employees. Our Knowcomm team provided internal communication support for both events. The challenge was to come up with a strategy that would make the annual conference not only informative, but also inspiring and memorable.

THE TASK: A CELEBRATION THAT GOES BEYOND THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE

The aim was to create an event that would highlight important brand messages, support internal communications and ensure that employees felt like a key part of KiK‘s success. We wanted to engage conference attendees as much as possible and reinforce their experience. We looked for ways to increase their interaction with the program, the organizers and each other. At the same time, we worked on an overall communication strategy that ensured the conference was not just a one-off event but had a long-term impact on the perception of the KiK brand by employees and the public.

OUR SOLUTION: A STRATEGY WITH PURPOSE

As an agency, we focused on elements that added personality and interactivity to the conference. We recommended:

☑️ Creating a microsite for attendees – a place with all important information

☑️ Surprise moment and giveaways – personalized packages evoked emotions, left a strong impression.

☑️ Interactive satisfaction survey – getting feedback for further internal communication and actions

MICROSITE FOR GREATER CONNECTION

To ensure the best possible information for employees before, during and after events, we have created a special microsite. It served as a central point for information, photo gallery and event videos. We provided audio-visual materials on site and then processed them for publication on both the microsite and social media. For both conferences, the microsite also helped us maintain a consistent communication approach. It was important that attendees at both events received the same information on key messages, programme and organisational details.

TRUSTING IN COMMON EXPERIENCES

A key element that strengthened emotions was the quickly processed group photos that participants received in their farewell gift packages. We had only a few hours of the night to process them, during which we arranged for graphic editing, printing of several hundred newly taken photos, framing them and transporting them to the hotel reception. The photos complemented the pre-personalized gift bags with trinkets and a complimentary personal cards.

GETTING FEEDBACK

In order to get useful feedback from both events, we have chosen interactive online satisfaction questionnaires. Participants’ responses helped us assess the quality of accommodation, meals, programme and transport.

    Number of Attendees

  • 2

RESULT: A SUCCESSFUL CONFERENCE WITH REAL IMPACT

Thanks to our thorough preparation and innovative approach, we helped create a conference that was not just about presentations and numbers. Employees left with a sense of belonging and appreciation.

☑️ Positive feedback from attendees

☑️ High levels of engagement and interaction

☑️ Long-term impact on company culture

CONCLUSION: THE POWER OF EFFECTIVE INTERNAL COMMUNICATION

The successful implementation of the KiK 30th Anniversary Conferences in the Czech Republic and Slovakia has shown the importance of effective internal communication. It can significantly strengthen relationships and increase employee engagement. Thanks to innovative tools such as a tailor-made and continuously updated microsite with well-crafted audiovisual materials or personalised gift packages with a group photo, a pleasant and unified atmosphere was created. Evaluating the feedback then helped identify areas for improvement and strengthening the company culture.
