Summer, fun by the water, and moments when you truly switch off. This was the emotion we built on when creating a summer competition for our client, the Czech brand JIKA, on social media in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The goal was to motivate social media users to spend more time outdoors, ideally by the water, while naturally connecting the brand with authentic summer experiences. In practice, this meant shifting attention away from screens and into the real world.
The concept was clear and easy to understand. To enter the contest, participants were asked to submit a photo of their favourite place by the water in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. This could be a public swimming pool, a lake, a pond, or a river—places accessible to everyone. Along with the photo, participants needed to include the name of the location, its whereabouts, and their contact details. Entries could be sent either via the email or through private messages on social media. At the same time, following the JIKA profile was required, helping us not only to drive engagement but also to grow the fan base. We placed strong emphasis on simplicity, clarity, and a consistent visual style that reflects the JIKA brand and works naturally in the social media environment.
The contest ran on Instagram and Facebook throughout the summer holidays and gradually evolved into a natural content format that expanded the standard activity on the profiles. The result was a diverse gallery of places shared directly by followers. Selected tips were featured every two weeks in Stories as well as in the feed. Beyond social media activity, we also created and launched an interactive map where all the tips were pinned, allowing anyone to get inspired and visit the locations themselves. The maps, titled “JIKA Summer Guide to Places by the Water,” received 852 views for the Czech version and 943 views for the Slovak version.
The contest delivered not only strong participation but also a significant increase in followers, thousands of clicks, and hundreds of interactions across social media. A total of 229 participants from the Czech Republic and 123 from Slovakia took part in the competition, resulting in more than 300 tips for summer swimming spots. The Czech profiles (Facebook and Instagram) gained over 200 new followers, while the Slovak profiles grew by more than 180 followers. The total reach reached 71,702 across the Czech profiles and 72,045 across the Slovak profiles.

After the contest ended, three winners were selected in the Czech Republic on Facebook and three on Instagram, with the same structure applied to the Slovak profiles. In total, 12 winners received vouchers for selected JIKA bathroom products worth up to CZK 10,000 / EUR 400. In addition to the main prizes, every two weeks we selected 12 of the best tips and shared them via Stories. Their authors were rewarded with stylish JIKA bathrobes and towels—perfect companions for summer moments by the water. The prizes naturally aligned with JIKA’s product portfolio and reinforced the brand’s perception as one that is connected with water not only functionally, but also on an emotional level.
The JIKA summer contest demonstrated that a format spread over a longer period of time can work as a strong content concept. Throughout the summer, the client’s profiles were filled with authentic tips that entertained the community while inspiring others. The result went beyond increased engagement or follower growth. JIKA’s social media profiles became a place people returned to for inspiration on where to go by the water.
