How do you bring an advertising slogan to life? That was exactly the challenge we set out to solve for BAUHAUS this year. We took the campaign “Everyone Can Feel Like a Pro at BAUHAUS” beyond TV screens and into the real world. The result was a series of three public events in Prague, Brno and Liberec, where hundreds of visitors tried their hand at woodworking and built birdhouses that now provide new homes for birds across the Czech Republic.
The project followed BAUHAUS’s spring communication campaign featuring actor Vojta Kotek as the “clumsy husband.” While the TV commercials showed that anyone can take on a DIY project, our activation gave people the chance to experience it for themselves.
Throughout May, temporary outdoor workshops appeared in Prague, Brno and Liberec, welcoming families, students, seniors and passers-by alike. Everything participants needed was provided—from materials and tools to expert guidance from experienced carpenters. The concept was simple: you don’t have to be a professional craftsman to create something meaningful with your own hands. And it worked. During the three public events, visitors built most of the one hundred birdhouses that were later installed in carefully selected locations across the country.
From the very beginning, we knew we wanted more than just another promotional event. Our goal was to connect the campaign message with an activity that would have a genuine positive impact in a real life. That’s why we partnered with the Czech Society for Ornithology which served as the project’s expert partner. Thanks to their involvement, visitors learned why birds are increasingly losing their natural nesting sites—and how ordinary people can help reverse this trend.
But the project wasn’t just about raising awareness. Every birdhouse was built with a clear purpose: to provide new nesting opportunities where they are genuinely needed. After installation, each participant received information about the final location of their birdhouse, allowing them to follow its story and see whether it has already welcomed new feathered residents.
The three public workshops were only the first chapter of the project. The final highlight was a fourth event designed specifically for journalists and influencers. Staying true to the campaign slogan “Everyone Can Feel Like a Pro,” we replaced the traditional press conference venue with a shared woodworking workshop. Surrounded by the scent of timber and workbenches instead of conference tables, guests experienced an atmosphere that perfectly reflected the spirit of the campaign.
The event also featured classic “craftsman’s refreshments” and practical DIY gifts to take home. Just like the public, journalists and influencers rolled up their sleeves and built birdhouses themselves, contributing directly to the initiative. The birdhouses completed during the media event brought the total to one hundred new nesting boxes, now installed at several locations across the Czech Republic.
The project brought together influencers, campaign ambassador Vojta Kotek and media representatives, generating authentic social media content, extensive media coverage and countless genuine moments that helped spread the campaign’s message to a much wider audience. Because that was the whole point: to show that the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands isn’t reserved for professionals—it’s something everyone can experience.
We were involved in every stage of the project—from developing the initial concept and finding the right way to bring the campaign closer to people, through planning and producing all events, to media relations and the final press conference. The result was a fully integrated campaign that worked not only as a communication platform but also as a meaningful real-world initiative. It was one of those projects that combined everything we enjoy most: a creative idea, live events, influencer marketing, media relations, a strong partner and an activation that left behind something more lasting than media coverage alone. In this case, that meant 100 new birdhouses and hundreds of people who discovered—if only for a day—that everyone really can feel like a pro.
The project was carried out in partnership with the Czech Society for Ornithology (CSO), the Czech Republic’s largest nature conservation organisation, founded in 1926.
